So true! Communication is essential to successful relationships, and without self-awareness and empathy, you might as well be talking to a wall. I would add self-esteem or self-worth, because without it, people find excuses to hide who they are, deflect love, and take everything personally. When partners lack empathy, self-awareness, and self-esteem, nothing ever gets resolved. They can’t take responsibility for their actions. Eventually, their aggrieved partner gives up and withdraws. Why be vulnerable and say you’re hurt if your partner can’t see that, look at themselves, or feels so unworthy that they block what you’re saying or play the victim?
